Michael Killiner
Michael Killiner was a successful loan writer working within a mortgage broking business. He’d helped countless people purchase their first homes, invest in property, and fund their businesses. But at the end of the day, when the deals were signed off, the recognition went to the broker business – not to Michael.

Evan Phaedonos
Evan Phaedonos was still in his twenties when he made the bold decision to transition from employee to entrepreneur. At the time, he was working as a lending specialist with one of Australia’s Big Four banks – a role that offered security, support, and structure. These institutions were known for looking after their lending staff, making the leap into self-employment a daunting prospect, even for the most ambitious professionals.
But Evan had his sights set on something bigger than being a cog in the machine.
He recognised the opportunity to build something of his own – a client-focused broking business that provided genuine, long-term financial guidance. When he finally made the move, the bank’s parting gesture, in Evan’s words, was simply “a pair of tongs and a pat on the back.”
Undeterred, Evan left the banking world and took the leap into business ownership, joining MQG as the Owner and Director of MoneyQuest Doncaster. The early years were tough – filled with long hours, steep learning curves, and hard work. But that effort has paid off.
Today, Evan enjoys the flexibility to be a great broker, a successful business owner, and, most importantly, a present and engaged father.
Nearly a decade on, MoneyQuest Doncaster is recognised as one of the most trusted and reliable mortgage broking businesses in Melbourne’s inner suburbs. Evan continues to lead the business with integrity and dedication, working alongside co-director Nathan Cahill to support clients with all their finance needs.
